ACADEMICS

EYMA faculty are able to offer personalization of our curriculum to meet the individual needs of each scholar by enhancing assignments and creating projects to better suit a student’s unique learning style.

EYMA offers a hybrid model that includes online and face to face text-based curriculum options. With this model, EYMA combines the dynamic interactivity of the web with on and off line assignments along with bi-weekly face to face meetings with your assigned faculty member. Our courses are structured primarily through project based learning and feature materials carefully chosen for their academic quality and suitability for a wide range of learning styles.

Keeping in Touch and Providing Support

EYMA faculty keep in frequent contact with students, responding to questions through our interactive grade book, phone, email, video conferencing, and in face to face settings. Our faculty sets the learning tone through a welcome letter and video when a scholar enrolls in a course. This personal introduction allows the faculty member to personally connect with the scholar, setting up guidelines for communication, and offering support for academic and personal success.

Curriculum is taught with the understanding that the purpose is not merely the attainment of knowledge but also includes the acquisition of values, the ability to think and the discovery of truth.

Our goals in this area are:

  1. To provide an academically challenging curriculum which meets the needs of the college and or career bound scholar which also promotes an enjoyment of learning.

  2. To motivate each scholar to develop his/her academic potential and creative talent.

  3. To provide scholars with critical and independent thinking, analytical, and synthetic skills.

  4. To provide scholars with a respect for truth through the many and varied aspects of the curriculum.

  5. To develop an awareness and appreciation of the fine and practical arts.

We hope to achieve these goals by:

  • Establishing a system for evaluating course offerings and curriculum yearly to meet scholar needs.

  • Hiring competent and dedicated faculty members with a minimum of 12 years classroom teaching experience.

  • Matching scholars with course content appropriate to their skill level.

  • Providing academically challenging project based curriculum in all subject areas.

  • Providing a variety of experiences which challenge the mind to search and resolve problems.

  • Establishing different approaches and strategies to problem-solving enabling the scholar to reason logically, think critically, evaluate data, make judgments, and form oral and written opinions.

  • Honoring scholars who have achieved academic progress and growth.

  • Providing a collaborative environment that encourages discussion.

  • Providing a curriculum that effectively and creatively deals with diverse cultures, religions, and social issues.

  • Encouraging scholars to recognize their unique talents through experimentation with varied media including drama, literature, art, and music.

  • Providing a curriculum that is well rounded, integrated, and designed to meet the needs of scholars in each subject area.
