CAMPAIGN

advocate • educate • love • accept

Many children and adults on the autism spectrum need help in learning how to act in different types of social situations. They often have the desire to interact with others, but may not know how to engage friends or may be overwhelmed by the idea of new experiences.

Building up social skills with practice can help enhance participation in the community and support outcomes like happiness and friendships.

The mission of the Fantastic 40 Campaign is to literally transform the lives of forty+ youth and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. As a community we will begin by adopting the mindset of “It Takes a Village to Raise a Child,” and we will become the support system to get these youth to thrive in social settings and interacting with their typical and non typical peers and community members.

Over the course of the program, our support system includes:

  • Personal Mentors

  • Interactive Social Events and Activities

  • Job Shadowing Opportunities and Internships

  • Parent / Guardian Workshops and Seminars

  • Lifelong Friendships

Family Game Night is just one example of an event that brings youth with disabilities together with their typical peers in an effort to foster socialization in a natural, fun and engaging environment.

Other planned activities/events include:

  • Sports Field Day

  • Father Son Bowling

  • Mother Daughter Crafts

  • Family Beach Party

  • Summer Campout

  • And much more

Through generous support from our sponsors and community organizations and corporations, we are able to provide these life changing experiences at little or no cost to our participating families. On average, its costs a family upwards of $60,000 per year to care for an individual with a disability and as a result oftentimes, leisure and recreational activities are not a financial priority for the families. This stresses the significant need for our Village to come together to support our youth and young adults with disabilities. After all, they are our FUTURE.
